The Diabetes Education Service provides specialist advice for the clinical management of diabetes. This includes medical, nursing and nutritional management of diabetes and diabetes education, information for patients, family/whanau, health professionals, community groups and the general public.
People with diabetes are seen in outpatient clinics (both hsopital and community settings) as inpatients during a hospital admission and sometimes in their home environment.
The staff are based at Rotorua & Taupo Hosptials but a lot of time is spent int he community setting across the geography of Lakes District Health Board.
