Volunteering at Lakes District Health Board

Lakes DHB supports opportunities for volunteering at Rotorua Hospital.  Volunteers will provide a key supporting role within the hospital, promoting good health and emtional well being.  Volunteering also helps maintain and strengthen community values and fosters caring and sharing.  Our minimum age is 18 years.  We do not have an upper age limit.

Chaplaincy Assistants
Chaplaincy assistants work under the guidance of the Chaplain to provide pastoral care to patients, their families and staff of Rotorua Hospital.

St Johns Friends of the Emergency Department (FEDS)
St John FEDS support emergency deaprtment staff by providing assistance and reassurance to patients.  Offering practical help like making telephhone calls and ensuring people are warm and comfortable.  They also provide a link to staff.  This programme is provided by St Johns and any enquiries should be made directly to them.

How do I become a volunteer?

1. You will need to complete an application form
2. Attend an interview
3. Obtain health clearance
4. Have two refree checks completed
5. A police check completed
6. Attend Organisational Orientation

How much time do I need to commit to?
