Emergency Accommodation at Rotorua Hospital

Rotorua Hospital services a wide area, and many of our patients come from out of town. We understand how crucial it can be to a patient’s recovery that they are surrounded by loved ones, so Lakes DHB is committed to providing temporary, comfortable and affordable accommodation to the support person(s) of inpatients at Rotorua hospital, somewhere so they can be close to the patient and still have somewhere to rest and have a break.

Paimarie Whānau Accommodation provides temporary emergency self-contained accommodation for close family/whānau support. The facility consists of five units, each equipped with basic cooking facilities and linen. There are also free laundry facilities located at the end of unit 5 for all occupants to use. 


Who can stay in Paimarie?

 

 

Family/whānau support of inpatients at Rotorua Hospital are eligible to stay at Paimarie provided they do not live in the Rotorua region, or do not have relatives or friends in the Rotorua area they can stay with.
To be eligible for accommodation:

  • You must be the support person to an inpatient admitted to Rotorua Hospital
  • You must also live further than 25 km from the hospital
  • You must be able to pay in advance or qualify for National Travel Assistance funding

Does it cost anything?

 

  • The cost per unit is $40 per night.
  • Payments can be made by eftpos or cash.
  • There is no deposit required as payment is to be made daily in advance for each night.

How can you access this accommodation?


Access to Paimarie is provided by the National Travel and Accommodation Co-ordinator between the hours of 8.30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. From 4pm –8.30am the following day and during weekends and public holidays this role will be provided by the Duty Manager.

All front line staff are responsible for informing patients and their families/whānau about the Paimarie accommodation, and who they should ask about it. 

 


Check in and Check Out Times

 

CheckIN time is 2.30pm daily Monday - Friday (except public holidays). The coordinator will meet you at the front reception of the hospital. 
Outside of these hours requests are to be made to the Duty Manager. 
CheckOUT time is 11.00am daily
. If you have agreed to vacate the units on a particular day you must hand in your key and leave before this time or face an extra charge.
