Booking Information

External Requestors

The Radiology Department accepts urgent requests from referrers outside the hospital from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.

All appointments to be made for a later date are made by the appointments administrator  during business hours.

The request form must be sighted prior to the appointment being made.  The request form can be faxed, posted to us, or brought in by the patient.

All x-ray forms must state patient's full name, date of birth, correct address, 'phone number, NHI number and referrer.  Other essential details include relevant clinical information (including past history of disease, if appropriate), pregnancy status, signed consent (if appropriate), type of examination required, and degree of urgency.

It is helpful for patients to bring any previous x-rays in their possession with them.

For urgent appointments, following discussion with a radiologist, the patient is given an appointment as soon as possible.

Internal Requestors

The Radiology Department provides internal requestors with access to the RIS Request application which can be accessed via Citrix, CIS and IPM.

Access to RIS Request is given to clinicians upon completion of an access form which is located on the intranet under IS request forms.  Once completed, the access form should be sent to IS for processing.  Upon completion a short course of training is provided by IS or PACS Administration, access to the application will be configured.

Upon completion of an electronic request the request informaiton is automatically routed to Radiology to be actioned.  Here the request will be prioritised based on the clinical indications and indicated clinical urgency.

For urgent appointments, following discussion with a Radiologist, the patient is given an appointment as soon as possible.
