Child Protection

The Lakes District Health Child Protection Co-ordinator advocates on behalf of the child or young person to ensure that their health needs are met in relation to care, and protect them from abuse or neglect. The co-ordinator provides a Lakes DHB service in case co-ordination and supporting, advising and training staff.

Internally, our Child Protection Co-ordinator liaises with the Paediatric Service and Maternity Service to ensure safe discharge for inpatient children and externally works closely with the Police, Oranga Tamariki and NGOs.
