Rotorua Hospital Redevelopment Starts Soon The main Rotorua Hospital and Emergency Department entrance will move on Thursday 1 October 2009, to allow building work to start. The entrance moves to the Outpatients Department entrance in the Bridgman South Building, overlooking Kuirau Park. (See picture of relocated entrance). There will be some parking for ED patients in the area just outside the Bridgman South building. Main site changes in recent times include: - Relocate District Nursing Service to Te Au o Hinetai - Move Audiology testing from the ground floor of Edward Guy Building to D Floor Edward Guy - Move Surgical Outpatients to former District Nursing Service area - Demolition began in late August and will run until the end of September on the single level areas of Edward Guy Building - Ground work is underway for a new staff/public cafeteria in Rotorua Hospital, in the internal courtyard by Elderly Services Centre/Rehab Unit - Demolition is scheduled to start on the walkway/overhead corridor linking Edward Guy Building to the CSB plant building on Monday 21 September.
All demolition works are scheduled to be completed by the end of September From mid-October 2009, there will be construction underway at Rotorua Hospital for the next two years. Please be prepared for the noise and disruption that is part of a major building project.
