Lakes DHB Facilities Re-Certified for Two Years
Lakes DHB has been advised that it has been re-certified to provide health care services under section 26 of the Health and Disability Services (Safety) Act 2001 at Rotorua and Taupo Hospitals for two years, commencing April 2012.
The Health and Disability Sector Standards that the DHB was audited against include consumer rights, organisational management, continuum of service delivery and safe and appropriate environment.
The re-certification follows a four day certification audit during February this year. The focus of that four day visit was reviewing inpatient services and visited the diabetes service, district nursing service, specialist nursing services, child development service and dental services. This saw auditors talk to patients and their families, interview staff and followed the journey of delivery of health services.
At the same time, the auditors undertook a periodic review of progress against the 14 mandatory criteria for accreditation to gauge progress against the previous recommendations from the previous full survey in February 2010.
The DAA Group Ltd of surveyors has acknowledged the impacts of the Rotorua Hospital site redevelopment, noting that this has seen “bigger picture” projects taking precedence over some of the more regular quality improvements and work.
Despite this, the DAA Group Ltd has said good progress has been made in addressing many of the previous recommendations, while a number continue as a “work in progress”.
Every DHB and residential health care facility undergoes regular certification audits, with the results reported to the Ministry of Health and any corrective actions required to be implemented.
We would like to hear from you. We welcome any feedback about the services we provide to you.
