Children’s Centre Manager Appointed

Lakes DHB Chief Executive Ron Dunham has announced the appointment of Bridget Wilson to the new role of Manager of the Children’s Health Centre.

The new Children’s Centre – Te Aka Mauri – is a flagship project for Lakes DHB and the Rotorua District Council and is due to open to the public at the end of November. The centre aims to provide a hub that brings together all the activities that support and promote healthy children and healthy families in the Lakes DHB community.

Bridget Wilson has a nursing management background and was seconded from her role managing the Rotorua Hospital Children’s Unit to join the project team for the development of the Children’s Centre. For the past 18 months Bridget has been working with the different teams involved in the project including the architects, the library staff, the Rotorua Lakes Council staff, local community and iwi groups and the Lakes DHB staff who will be delivering services from the centre.

Once the centre opens in November Bridget will have oversight of the day-to day service delivery and will be the central point of contact for the centre.

Bridget says children are our future and focus, and the more time and effort we invest in our children, the greater the long term benefits for them and for our wider community.

She says she feels privileged to be part of this innovative and exciting development for the DHB and wider community groups.

Bridget is happy to hear from people who want to be part of the project and can be contacted through the Rotorua Hospital switchboard.
