ASMS senior doctors’ 48-hour strike planned for 23 and 24 September 2025
Senior doctors and dentists at Health NZ public hospitals and health services plan to strike for 48 hours on Tuesday 23 September and Wednesday 24 September.
Emergency departments will be open for emergencies only.
GPs, after-hours and urgent care clinics, and other community health providers are not affected by the strikes and will continue to operate as normal.
Wilson Centre is a health facility for tamariki located on beautiful grounds in Hauraki, on Auckland's North Shore. It caters to inpatients, day patients and outpatients. There are 2 services on site — the National child rehabilitation service and the Respite service (Out of home support).
The National child rehabilitation service at the Wilson Centre offers a comprehensive, whānau-centred rehabilitation service for tamariki aged 0 to 16 years old, or those still at school. We provide tertiary level rehabilitation for tamariki and rangatahi nationwide, with neurological, orthopaedic, spinal and other complex conditions requiring intensive rehabilitation.
Respite service (Out of home support)
Respite (Out of home support) is free for whānau in the Auckland and Northland regions. The service offers periodic relief to whānau with tamariki, aged 0 to 16 years old, with disabilities, are medically fragile and have high support needs.

More information about both of these services is on our Child disability service page.
