NZNO nurses’ strikes planned for 2 and 4 September 2025
Nurses at Health NZ public hospitals and health services plan to strike from 7am to 11pm on both Tuesday 2 September and Thursday 4 September. Emergency departments will be open for emergencies only.
GPs, after-hours and urgent care clinics, and other community health providers are not affected by the strikes and will continue to operate as normal.
The LinKIDS team coordinate the following services:
newborn enrolment process
patient transfer in and out of Canterbury
contacting families whose children have missed core health events such as immunisation, B4 school checks, regular rheumatic fever treatment and oral health services
referrals to the Young Parents Support Service.

The young parents support service is available free to all pregnant women and parents (including fathers and fathers-to-be) where at least one parent is 19 years or younger. Providers offer individual or group supports including:
