NZNO nurses’ strikes planned for 2 and 4 September 2025
Nurses at Health NZ public hospitals and health services plan to strike from 7am to 11pm on both Tuesday 2 September and Thursday 4 September. Emergency departments will be open for emergencies only.
GPs, after-hours and urgent care clinics, and other community health providers are not affected by the strikes and will continue to operate as normal.
The Burwood adult rehabilitation unit is a 14 bed inpatient ward at Burwood Hospital. It provides general and neuro rehabilitation. It has a limited outpatient clinic.
The unit provides rehabilitation for people aged 16 to 65 with:
acquired brain injury for example stroke, hypoxic brain injury
neurological conditions for example multiple sclerosis
deconditioning following a long illness.
The service also provides hospital level respite care.
We use an interdisciplinary team approach. You are the central focus of the team. We involve you as a team member with goal setting and family meetings. Families and carers are encouraged to join in when practical and are given support and education.

Outpatient service
We also offer an outpatient service. This provides care for Ministry of Health and ACC Concussion Clinic patients.
The Concussion Clinic is an early intervention service funded by ACC providing assessment and intervention for people with mild traumatic brain injury, including those with post concussion syndrome.
