Tairāwhiti continence and ostomy services provide support, education and care for people having issues with their bladder or bowel.

Our hours are Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays), 8am to 4:30pm.

We provide services to inpatients at:
- Gisborne Hospital
- Te Puia Hospital
- Chelsea Hospital.
We also provide care in the community to people between Mahia and Potaka, and to rest home clients on request.
Services we provide
Services we provide include:
- nursing assessments
- education for ostomy management
- assessments for being supplied with continence products
- pre and post operative care.
After you have been assessed by our continence nurse, we will set up a prescription for continence supplies that best suits your needs.
USL Medical will deliver your supplies 3 months at a time to your home.
When you are down to your last 2 week supply or last packet, call our reception number above to arrange your next delivery.

Referrals to the continence and ostomy service can come from healthcare providers, rest homes and other services. You can also contact us for an assessment without a referral.
