Online booking for outpatient appointments

Some outpatient clinics at North Shore Hospital and Waitakere Hospital now offer online appointment booking. This service lets you choose an appointment time that works for you.


Verifying your email address

When it is time to book your appointment, we will send a message to your validated email address:

  • to confirm that the email address we have on file for you is correct
  • that you are happy for us to communicate health information by email

The verification email will come from:

BookMyAppointment@outpatients.waitematadhb.govt.nz

When you provide or update an email address, you will be asked if you want Health New Zealand to use it for patient communication. If you choose yes:

  • we will send a verification email to the address provided
  • you can confirm that you are happy to receive emails about your test results and hospital appointments.

You will need to respond within 3 weeks of receiving our verification email or automated reminders.

How online booking works

When your appointment is ready to be booked, we will send an online appointment booking offer to your validated email address.

The booking email will come from:

Open your secure booking link

Your email will include a secure link to the booking page.

When you open the link, you will be asked to enter your date of birth for extra security.

Choose your appointment

You can then select a date and time that suits your work, travel, and caring commitments.

Receive a confirmation email

After you book your appointment, we will send you a confirmation email. It will include:

  • your appointment details
  • information to help you prepare for your visit.

Change or cancel your appointment

You can reschedule an appointment booked online up to two times.

If you need to reschedule more than two times, contact the Waitematā booking team. You will find the email address in your booking confirmation email.

If you cancel your appointment, our booking team will be notified. Your care will return to your GP. Only cancel if you no longer need hospital care or have been treated elsewhere.


If you need help with your booking

If you do not respond to the booking email

Our booking team monitors unbooked appointments. They may contact you to help you complete your booking or to check whether you still need the appointment.

If you delete the email by accident

We will send you two email reminders with the booking link.

Booking on a smartphone

Yes. You can complete your booking on any device that receives email.


Accessibility and safety

  • The booking system works on mobile, desktop, and tablet.
  • The link in your email is secure and requires your date of birth to open.
  • Appointment emails come from only one official email address, which helps protect against spam and phishing.
